We are now looking for a Lead Design Engineer to a permanent position to our Vantaa office.
Purpose of the position:
Rosendahl Nextrom is looking for a Lead Design Engineer to lead and coordinate mechanical design engineering of optical fiber production machines. You will have responsibility for specific product type(s)/line(s) in R&D or customer projects and participate and coordinate internal project work with other functions. In addition, you will be coordinating the design work of a team of designers the Lead Design Engineer also designs machines yourself. The share of own design contribution and coordination of a design team depends on the complexity and size of the project. You will report to the Engineering Manager (Finland).
Main responsibilities:
- Technical leadership and high-level expertise in your product area: steering the R&D of the specific product area, suggesting new R&D activities
- Allocate, schedule and manage the resources involved in the mechanical design work of R&D or customer projects
- Organize and guide engineering reviews
- Review and verify design drawings and other technical documentation prepared by other engineers
- Collaborate and support all stakeholders in the different phases of the project
Mechanical design team defines and produces functional requirements of the system to the machine structure and generates the machine specification in coordination with product management. They also produce technical analyses, calculations, testing planning, instructions and technical documentation as needed for the lifecycle of the product. Mechanical design team collaborates and gives support to the engineering team to produce PI-diagrams, design sketches and drawings in accordance with applicable standards. Mechanical design teams is responsible of component selection and instrumentation used in the product and also to create and update the machine structure in PDM system.
Requirements to succeed in the role:
We are preferably looking for a person with suitable technical background, who also has strong experience and knowledge from Lead Design Engineering functions. You have ability to lead a team and coordinate teamwork, ability to use design systems and ability to act as an engineering professional. You are interest in new technology and applications by following the technological development and standardization at your field of professionality. You have good problem-solving skills, high analytical ability, and structured way of working. The role will require curiosity and flexibility and good oral and written communication skills in English and Finnish and ability to travel occasionally.
