This is the closest we'll get to looking into a crystal ball: bring your scheduling a-game and see our projects running smoothly as planned!

We are looking for a Project Planning and Control Engineer for a one year of fixed-term employment in Valmet's Pulp and Energy Business Line, Energy business unit. This unit designs and delivers heat and power boilers and gasification plants, as well as rebuilds and environmental systems for energy producers and other industries worldwide. Work is done at our office in Tampere.

As the Project Planning and Control Engineer you support the project teams in managing the schedule and budget of the projects. You will master our planning tools, and train and support other users to get the most out of our tools and process. You will work closely with the Project Manager, site team and subcontractors to give and get information.

Your tasks include:

  • creating the baseline schedule and resource plan, manpower histograms and progress S-curves
  • monitoring the status and detecting possible delays
  • preparing and updating progress forecasts
  • supporting the Project Manager in budget maintenance and cost reporting

With time and experience you will also gain insight to be able to propose corrective actions and find solutions to the possible problems in the schedule. You will also get to share your thoughts on how to improve our tools and way of working.

Expectations
The role can be slightly modified based on your experience, so we welcome applications from both experienced planners and newcomers. However, you should have a Master's or Bachelor's degree in technology or you are finishing your studies. If you have some experience in project planning and scheduling, EPC-projects, or energy industry, they are considered an advantage. You need good IT skills (especially Excel), and knowledge of scheduling tools such as Safran is highly appreciated. Fluent English skills are needed, both written and spoken. This position includes some travelling.

You understand the big picture and the flow of the project, but you are also good with details and can do accurate work. An organized and systematic working style is needed, as you will be involved in several projects simultaneously. Even though much of your time will be spent independently working with the planning tools, you need to proactively reach out for information and support and also share your work with others.

Our team
You will have a great team of experienced colleagues to support you. This role gives you good insight into high-quality planning in an international environment and can also serve as a starting point to other roles in project management and bioenergy business.

That feeling when everything goes as planned!
